Complete Zenburn -like Notepad++ style / theme
This style was included into Notepad++ 5.5 release. Please update your software. Zenburn style can be enabled from Settings -> Style Configurator menu.
Notepad++ is a lightweight and free (GPL licensed) text editor for Windows operating system. I use it occasionally on Windows PCs at work. Unfortunately I am a bit allergic for black on white text editing. Therefore I decided to "port" the excellent Zenburn Vim colorscheme for Notepad++. Zenburn colorscheme is originally created by Jani Nurminen and suits especially for low lighting environments.
There was a Zenburn-like style for Notepad++ made by Dominykas Djačenka, but it had highlighting for only a couple of languages and it was getting outdated. Thus a complete Zenburn-like style for the current version of the Notepad++ was needed.
This style has been created for and tested on Notepad++ v5.6.4. I don't have any extra plugins installed, and therefore I haven't tested how it will look with plugins.
Zenburn.xml was updated on 12.01.2010 to support languages that were added into Notepad++ after release 5.4.5! It can be downloaded here until it is updated into next release.
Supported languages
ActionScript, ADA, ASP, Assembler, autoIT, Bash, Batch, C, Caml, CMakeFile, COBOL, CSS, C++, C#, D, DIFF, Dos Style, Fortran, GUI4CLI, Haskell, HTML, ini file, InnoSetup, Java, JavaScript, KiXtart, LISP, Lua, Makefile, Matlab, NSIS, Objective-C, Pascal, Perl, php, PostScript, PowerShell, Properties file, Python, R, RC, Ruby, Scheme, Smalltalk, SQL, TCL, TeX, VB/VBS, Verilog, VHDL, XML, and YAML.

Installing (release 5.4.5)
- Copy Zenburn.xml to Notepad++'s themes folder.
- In my WinXP Professional (EN) installation that folder is "C:\Program Files\Notepad++\themes".
There is a ClearType optimized Consolas font available from Microsoft. It is very good for text editing, and maybe you should give it a spin. It ships with Vista and Windows 7, but for XP you can get it from Microsoft Download Center.
